Clayton Powell-Lee Looks Forward To His Final Season At Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech's senior safety Clayton Powell-Lee is ready to go. He is amped up and eager to get going on the 2025 season, one that he believes will provide another step forward for the program he knows and loves.

Tech Safety Clayton Powell- Lee is looking forward to a productive 2025 season

Lee earned a starting position as a freshman and he has been a fixture in Tech's defensive backfield since then. Now he sees the grand finale in front of him, with the added bonus of playing for a new defensive coordinator, Blake Gideon, who was himself a safety during his playing days at Texas not long ago.

Gideon's intensive approach to leading his defense will depend heavily on savvy play from Powell- Lee and several of his veteran teammates, including Amari Harvey , Omar Daniels and Rodney Shelley.

Gideon has said he will insist on players running to the ball and he also plans to sharpen the tackling skills among the defensive backs so as to limit explosive plays that result from a short gain amplified by an incomplete tackle.

Powell- Lee is fully on board, looking forward to his " last first game", just as he looked ahead to his last first day of summer camp a few weeks ago.

In a recent press conference, the senior praised his teammates and said he was ready to play immediately.

He logged 53 tackles last year, 32 of those solo, and he produced one sack.

Powell- Lee said he feels comfortable leading " the younger guys" now that he is a senior. And he made it clear that such leadership might be on or off the football field.

He finished his remarks by saying how proud he is to have been at Tech as things were being built and as the program is ascending. With his typical ebullient style, Powell- Lee advised all fans to " buy in now!", as he believes strongly that Brent Key and staff have put in a winning foundation.
