When Georgia Tech Has the Ball -- 2025

The upcoming 2025 season holds much promise for Brent Key and his Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. While the Jackets have good returning talent overall, the offense stands out in that regard. Today we take a closer look at the offensive side of the ball for Georgia Tech in 2025.

In the backfield, it all starts with QB Haynes King. King had an injury- plagued 2024 season , and the team suffered in his absence until the emergence of back up Aaron Philo who guided Tech to a thrilling last minute win over NC State. King was back to help Tech take UGA to the wire in the already- legendary 8-overtime loss.

In that game, much of the country learned what Tech people already knew– King is a fantastic leader who brings out the best from his team. He and OC Buster Faulkner have been a problem for ACC defenses for several years ( 2024- 6th in total offense, 2nd in rushing yards per game).

Tech will again look to be a "run- first" offense, with RB Jamal Haynes back to tote the ball. The WR group lost Eric Singleton to the portal but picked up Eric Rivers via same. Malik Rutherford will be back, and given all that returning firepower, the main question will be the O- line. There Tech lost three starters ( two via graduation, one via transfer). But returning linemen include guards Joe Fusile and Keylan Rutledge, along with tackle Ethan Mackenny.

Brent Key has an obvious feel for the primary role played by the O line and he and offensive line coach Geep Wade will ensure that Tech's forward wall again performs at a high level.

Tight end will be manned by senior Brett Seither, though promising underclassman Luke Harpring will get plenty of playing time and could be an emerging star.

Overall the Tech offense holds great promise for the coming season. If they stay healthy, the offense could lead the way to a good bump in the win total for the season, plus a higher profile bowl game. Beyond all that, though, is their desire to contend for the conference championship. They have the horses to do it, and Yellow Jacket fans are ready to see it all happen in 2025.
