Tigers Down Tech in Durham
Georgia Tech fell to Clemson on Saturday in Durham by a 9-4 score in the semifinals of the 2025 ACC baseball tournament, the final conference tournament of Tech Coach Danny Hall's career. The historic setting at Durham Athletic Park was friendly to the Jackets in the early going, as Tech jumped out to an early lead.

But Clemson won the game by taking prime advantage of the numerous gifts that Tech laid at their feet– aand then holding Tech's vaunted offense in check through the final five innings.
Clemson managed nine runs from only eight hits. They wrte enabled by four walks and three– three- batters hit by a pitch. Overcoming seven free passes is tough to do, and on this day, Tech was not up to the task.
The turning point of the game came in the top of the third, with Clemson looking up at a 3-0 Tech lead. The Tigers scored their first run on a single by Purify, driving in Ciuofo. Jones walked Paino and hit Listi with a pitch, all with two outs. The next Tiger hitter , Jarrell , belted a grand slam to flip the score to 5-3 Clemson.
Notably, Tech had already experienced one baserunning error when Lodise was thrown out at the plate in the first inning after running through a stop sign from Hall. Schmidt had scored ahead of him and a chance at a bigger inning was lost.Lodise made another baserunning mistake in tbe 5th when he was doubled up at first on a sinking liner out to right that was caught. Lodis had progressed too far around second base to get back in time.

Roger's homer got Tech in the 5th to narrow the score to 5-4. But from there, Clemson added to their lead with two more runs in the 7th and single runs in the eighth and ninth to account for the final margin.
Post- game, Danny Hall repeated his pride in his team and reminded all that Tech's goals were still ..." in front of us" as they looked ahead to the 64 team field for the national tournament beginning next weekend.
