Tech Falls to Cal in Season Home Finale

Georgia Tech took on Cal (20-9.8-8) at McCamish on Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets came in looking to end a 10 game losing streak. That streak included a 90-85 loss to the Bears in Berkeley one month ago. Like many of these losses, Tech hung tough that night before falling away at the end.

Wednesday night was senior night at Tech's home court. A sparse crowd brought disproportionately strong energy and the Jackets raced out to an 18- 8 lead halfway through the first half. With a determined Cal team pushing back, Tech's lead dwindled to 36-32 at the half. The Yellow Jackets first- half scoring came largely courtesy of senior guard Kowacie Reeves, who poured in 19 points, including five three- pointers.

But just three minutes into the second half, Cal turned that deficit into a three- point lead. They steadily built that lead, reaching 10 with seven minutes left. Reeves' hot shooting had been quieted by the Bears, and no one in Tech's line-up had the ability to pick up the slack.

The result was yet another loss as the Yellow Jackets prepare to finish a season that has seen a dismal end to a mediocre start.

Wednesday's home game was illustrative of the way this Tech team has learned to lose. With that slim halftime lead, Tech's second half was notable for zero second-half points from Reeves, and a big jump in Jacket turnovers, along with a bump in fast- break points by the Golden Bears. The result was another lost opportunity to break a prolonged downturn in the 2025-6 season.

Stoudamire seemed disconsolate in his post- game remarks, saying that this time in this season at Tech " is the bottom,"

The numbers back him up. His team is 2-15 in league play this year. That record puts them...at the bottom.
